while I agree with you that quality lubricants will help keep the breather problems at bay, they will by no means prevent them forever, esp if we're talking about the ridiculously overpriced group III hydrocrack that gets sold as "synthetic oil" in NA. Even Mobil 1 seems to be on the bandwagon now.

Again I agree with your point that there are ways to help keep the breather unplugged for longer, but it does seems strange to me that there are clogging problems with this system at all - it should be possible to engineer an engine ventilation system that doesn't require 'high quality lubricants' or regular maintenance.

Perhaps the question comes down to cost and what people are willing to pay for. I have never seen an auto manufacturer advertise "PCV system that never clogs!" so perhaps it would just be too expensive?
