I'm not slamming Volvos, at least in the referenced message. I've owned three bricks and consider them to be safe and comfortable, if somewhat unreliable and stodgy in appearance. I've never considered the experience of owning a Volvo remotely comparable to dating anything of human origin, but there may be an option not installed on mine.
