You can fix these yourself. S70 1999

RepairmanJack, thanks for your perspective. "c70"? Did you mean XC70? Not familiar with the C model.

Good story though I'm curious about all the reported electronics problems with the throttle control module that, when it goes, is an expensive dealer replacement part at $500+ and the ABS controller problems that take out the speedo, the cruise control and something else. I take it you've not had any issues with those?

My hesitation with the Colorado Springs S70 was its history of 5 owners. The Carfax report, however, did not show any major electronic repairs at any dealers (at least that were reported/recorded) which can be interpreted 2 ways. Either the car is a really good, well built one to not have had any problems with its electronics, OR, they are aging and about to go bad. Yes, that's pessimistic. Just trying to be cautious and not pounce on the first S70 I saw. Her low miles are definitely a plus. Though she's not the cream puff I'd prefer, if she's got solid electronics, she may be the right one. One quick question for anyone, what's the replacement interval on the I5 engines timing belt? And how difficult for an owner to change?

Thanks again Jack!
