I guess it depends on how dirty the fluid is. If it's pretty clean and fresh I wouldn't sweat it.
Well since my wife's 850 is an M56 with 46K we haven't changed the manual tranny fluid yet. Volvo recommends a special Volvo fluid which I have not had analyzed (nor have I even bought or seen)
My neighbor's 850R had some pretty dark AT fluid, he disconnected both fittings as I recall (this was a few years ago) and blew it out (carefully) with compressed air and a product call Dr. Tranny aerosol cleaner from www.lubegard.com
