Re: Pirelli Sidewall Bubble... V70-XC70 2001

It's a problem with Pirelli tires. Previously, for those with 850 T5-R/R models that came with the 205/45/17 mounted on 17" 7 spoke rims, the Pirelli P-Zero Assimetrico tires caused an unbelievable number of problems such as bubbles in the side wall and blow outs.

As for the free replacement, not likely. Many have tried, but Volvo and Pirelli both deny responsibility. Your best bet is to go with a better/works better with Volvo tire. Such as the Michelin Pilot line, the Bridgestone Potenza line, the Toyo Proxes line, etc.

I don't think there has ever been a post on this board regarding a tire problem regarding these three manufacturers. The closest thing to a problem so far is more wear on the outer shoulder blocks on the front tires of 850 Turbos; related to the recommended .5 to negative .5 degrees camber, and the design of the front suspension on the 850 more then anything else.

I'm not saying Pirelli makes bad tires, but if you look at customer satisfaction by Consumer's Report (as copied and pasted into a Toronto Star article), Toyo took top honours last year, Michelin, and Bridgestone also scored highly. And where was Pirelli?
