Engage the parking brake, put the shifter in reverse, and see if the back up lights come on. If no back up lights, probably a new PNP switch is the cure.

If you do get back up lights, you will have to get the codes read and find out which tranny codes are present.

When the arrow is on, try shifting to L to get started from a stop. Limp home mode driving is very hard on the torque converter.
