If you clear the code, you can probably drive it for a day before it comes back.

The Shift solenoid #1 tells the tranny to shift to another gear??? Anyway, it is either dirty or needs replacement. It can be replaced but is not a fun job. There is an access panel on the rear of the tranny for all of the solenoids, one for each gear (at least that is what it seems like).

A Volvo specific code reader will point to the proper solenoid and if it is wiring related.
