I just read the post on the RWD forum. The 240 with the dry tranny is a no-no. The 940 is a bit better. And you really need to find out what it would cost to bring your 240 back to life. A trip to Volvo-from-heck might be worthwile? At least for a 2nd opinion.

You don't NEED an XC70. A V70 or 850 wagon would do well, except the 2001-2002 cars. Remember, the V70/850 are the same length as the 245/945.

The pre 1999 cars have a problem with the AC evaporator failing, so make sure that the AC blows really cold. The 2001-2 cars had tranny problems with the 5 speed auto box, don't even look at one of them!

The prices in the NYC area are nuts!! Do you have any friends south of the Mason-Dixon line or west of the Allegany mountains?
