I first did 3 180 deg turns and thot that was that. until i saw someone post on the BB he did 4 1/2 turns. I was like going ... 1/2?!
i went back and did another 3 180 degs turns after that.
now there's one thing peculiar about our ECUs - it's SMART, it's ALIVE! it will reset the baseline boost to stock settings after a coupla days of driving. the initial result of quicker spool-up after the turns will disappear after a while when the ECU learns what you've done and resets the whole thing!
I was pretty contented with the initail 1 1/2 turns until the reset happened. so i went and did the further 1 1/2. the reset was even quicker this time - 2-3 days and it was back to norm.
Gary Griessman (did i get that rite?) posted in another BB thread an excellent method of preventing ECU resets - just remove Fuse No. 1 in the fuesbox for 2-3 minutes. I can safely testify it works!
btw just my view but 3 full turns is definitely safe. also, i don't believe turning up boost over the limit will blow our engines. 1st thing that'll go wrong is engine check lit comes on. if you do a search on the topic you'll find our turbo will not overboost beyond ECU set boost limits (on my SAM thats 1.0bar constant, 1.1 when spike).
