IIRC, by '97 the GLT had become the designator for the light pressure turbo in Volvo's 850 lineup. So Bob's car probably has the same or similar coolant line setup for the turbo back there, in addition to the heater hoses.

It may be that the only thing to be done is to get back in there with a light and a mirror to see what drips or crusty deposits can be seen.
