Hmmm, I'm the busiest guy in our shop and make more money every year, many happy returning, repeat customers and we're expanding, hiring more guys. I'm now the Volvo shop foreman (management) besides being lead tech and we have very good CSI (IE: happy returning customers). So you see, you're wrong.
We charge for our labor but I'm fair, I have no need to be dis-honest or overcharge anyone as we're busy all the time (even when everyone else who work on other car lines) are standing around with no work. Our customers understand that we don't give free estimates UNLESS it's something like a free brake inspection while we're already doing an oil change or it's a "service clinic" (rare these days) which the techs are paid to do from the dealership.
