2001 S80 questions S80 2001

Cabin air filter:
In my opinion, it is probably not ESSENTIAL to change it every 15K miles, but eventually there will be a reduction in A/C airflow some hot Summer day. As Volvo's go, it is not an expensive part and can be changed in 15 minutes. Volvoparts.com and borton.com (Borton Volvo) sell them for about $16.

Brake fluid change every 30K:
Good advice for every car, not just Volvos, plus is essential to maintaining the warranty on your ABS system. Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, and moisture is poison to the minute passages in the ABS control (and the caliper pistons). Independent shops in my area will do this for $50.

Ticking noise:
I don't hear it on my S80, but your hearing may be better than mine. Try listening to a demo next time you visit your dealer. If yours is louder, you have a valid concern.
