One day the sunroof opened to the venting position, by itself. I closed it again and it went back up. Sometimes I would try to close it and the switch wouldn't respond. I took out the switch and cleaned it. When I put it back in, the sunroof opened again. So I took the switch out completely so I wouldn't burn up the sunroof motor. I started the car and it opened by itself, with no switch installed! Then I put the switch back in, closed the roof, and pulled fuse #35 that protects the sunroof and dash lights. IT STILL OPENED BY ITSELF.
So I took out the switch AND the fuse and, guess what, it still opened.
It happens frequently (very), and can happen when I hit a bump or at a complete stop. Sometimes it starts as soon as I start the car. I have been able to get it to the full open position and it slowly but surely will close itself, then reopen to vent position (it's favorite).
There is a circuit breaker type fuse that controls the sunroof and windows. I switched it with another and it still has the same problem.
I'm convinced it's a short, but where should I look and if it is in or around the motor, how do I get the headliner off?
All replies, (even if they are only guesses) and questions to help you understand are greatly appreciated. I will reply to any troubleshooting questions or requests. This is infuriating.
Thanks,
