hi sounds like the classic pnp switch. it is about $80 on line or 140 at dealer. go to volvospeed bay 13 and look up the procedure for replacing. fairly simple. another common one is the shift micro switch. if you have to use the shift lock release to put the car in gear. about 20 dollars for parts easy fixes. good luck let us know what you come up with. scott
