Ride harshness? 850 1996

I have now driven the car on some back roads. Harshness is not an issue, but I did find the car a little vague and "sloppy" compared to what I prefer, and being a 5-speed FWD, torque steer is annoying. It could be the Michelin X1 tires on it, which I wouldn't think would be as good a choice for the 850 as MXV's or similar. Maybe they were chosen to control the harshness, but the result is sloppiness.

The car is in perfect shape, very low mileage, well cared for at local shops, well priced, and a 5-speed! But I just didn't enjoy driving it as much as our 940. Maybe I should try an 850T or GLT.
