The only thing winter mode is likely to get you is extra wear on the transmission. All you would have to do to hear a BOV is get on it hard, then take your foot off the gas. You would hear the pressure escaping is it builds up behind the throttle plate as the turbo spins down. Your car would only have a BOV if someone installed one as an aftermarket item.
