Wiper arm and spindle splines worn... 850 1995

Woah- Hold on,

I had a similar incident a few years ago and incorrectly came to the same conclusion. Fortunately I did not make any "modifications" to the wiper motor spindle.

Try this- reposition the wiper arm assemply and bolt down snuggly using some loctite. That's all I had to do and all was fine.

The wiper motor spindle does not have sharp serations(sp?) as you might expect - leading you perhaps to believe its stripped. I thought so too- but at least in my case not an issue.

Though it's certainly possible that your spindle is stripped - let's hope not.
Worse case, perhaps a new wiper arm.

Incidently - I just replaced my drivers side wiper arm. Got an excellent price and service thru Dan at VolvoParts.com ( about $20 less than the local volvo dealer).
