Wiper arm and spindle splines worn...some fixes 850 1995

Erwin - As the other person mentioned, the splines are quite fine.

Here's what I did -

First fix - clean spindle, add washer under nut. Washer forces wiper arm down further on cone shaped splined shaft. Locktite sounds like a great idea. The drawback is - the further down you force the arm the less it contacts the spindle - two washers do not work.

Second fix - clean spline, wrap some fine (about 1/64th of an inch) copper wire several turns around spindle, put arm on. Wire builds up spindle and crushes to provide some grip.

Third fix - Notice how big the hole in the wiper arm has gotten! Buy and install new arm.

Take good care of the arms. Free them in the winter (probably not a problem for you) whenever they are stuck with ice.
