The 'freak' connector might be for the exterior temperature sensor, part of the onboard trip computer. If you don't have the computer, this is what I'd expect.

But I see no sidemarker wires behind my door post, though there is a rubber grommet to the wiring area above the driver's side kneewall. I'm going to look in there for unused connectors.
