I never thought I would be one of the guys on here talking about unloading my '95 850T5R with 90,000 miles, but I have just about had it. I have overlooked thousands of dollars in repairs as an advocate of the safety and in the case of my car, blast to drive qualities. But I think the last leg I was standing on just shattered.
Last week I noticed gas pooling under the car and was informed today that I need a new gas tank. Apparently there is a flaw in one of the welds between the fuel funnel and the tank. They are to call me back about the cost.
I really have enjoyed my car over the past 7yrs. But this is just the latest in a series of problems (turbo replacement, various and asundry sensors, paint that is peeling off, various electrcal probs, etc...)that are about to nickle and dime me to death. For the past three years I feel like my time has been spent between work and the Volvo dealer. I didn't even mind that untill the local dealer started putting me in rental cars from enterprise rentals! Not exactly what I expected to be driving when I put the money down for my T5R.
And before you start writing me about how all cars have their problems, I know that. But after perusing the various web boards for other makes, we are ridiculous. It has been meticulously maintained since new and a majority of the miles are highway miles. It is still a blast to drive(when it's not in the shop) and I do love it. But it has turned into a relationship based on S&M!!!
I know I will get letter after letter espousing the virtues of Volvophelia, but don't waste your time. Like many of the people I have seen come and go from this board, I have lost the faith.
Anyone have a clue what replacing the gas tank will run?
