I can already see you putting on ad in a newspaper for a 95 850T5R!!!! A replacment fuel tank is NEVER cheap. Especially when you are going through a dealer. They have to drain all the fuel and then take the whole damn tank out. I beleive there are some state laws on how to and not to take fuel tanks out.

Nonetheless, it is not going to be cheap. I am new to the Volvomania and have purchased 2 used Volvos (96 850 Wagon and 98 S 70) so I am bracing myself for the problems to come rushing in but also praying that the Volvo mania lives to its name. Only time will tell truly tell!!!!

Anyways, I would suggest if you really like your car look into going to a small but reliable body shop who can change the fuel tank out as well under state laws (my brother in law took his 90 Blazer to a one man body shop who changed it for him). They can get probably a used one from a junker or an after market one which is good enough for a 90000 mile car. But the Volvo dealership, oh boy!!!

Another good place to maybe look into taking a high mileage Volvo to is a Swedish or European car specialist. What state are you in??? If you are in Wisconsin or Illinois i can suggest a couple to you. Maybe going on Yahoo and doing a search on European Car repair can bring back some places as an alternative.

I dont blame you if you have lost your faith and your checkbook in the process. Just me though, i try to stay away from the Turbo models in general. I am just not sold on the whole turbo phenomena as yet. Hey.... if you can get the HP from a regular aspirated motor and in the process not get any tickets or kill yourself i am all for it. Then that is just me.

Good luck. Do let "the board" know what the replacement is. Maybe if my time comes it can save me a trip to the service station but to a dealership instead.

I know this is not the safest suggestion but my friend had a 88 525e that had a leaking gas tank and he finally figured it out where it was leaking and would only fill the tank up to 3/4 of the way. Not that you should do that but an alternative to not spending anything and runnning the car into the ground.
