Tim,
I can see that you are a terribly difficult person to deal with. It would seem that your first response to my post should have been "none of us here know why this has occured to your car (my point)" Instead, you started off by accusing me of not telling the truth simply because you are ignorant of the facts and that "you had never heard of this happening".
I am currently trying to get answers from Volvo and if (I say if) I get them I will post my findings.
By the way ... Why don't you register and reveal your profile. As you said, you are a vintage person with vintage vehicles that could pass on some of your vast vintage knowledge without putting people down. The way I see it, you have not asked many pertinent questions, you have only made accusations and assumptions that have not helped at all.
Here is an example of how unhelpful your comments are:- This is the last sentence of your thread....."You've reported a story that's probably made many here paranoid as they're driving their car and you have no possible explanation nor helped anyone here to prevent such a thing from occuring."
I am glad that I have made a lot of readers aware and paranoid because that is exactly how my scarred and scared wife and daughter feel. We have driven Volvos for years but we are questioning and contemplating what the replacement vehicle should be. I cannot offer explanations, I am only asking questions so I am in no position (yet) to help anyone prevent such a thing from occuring. Maybe, when I get some answers from Volvo or from someone of your caliber, I will be in a position to help others.
This will be my last response to your threads unless you register and submit a profile. Please understand that I need to spend my time researching the cause and dealing with our hospital bills and talking to my lawyer and Volvo and dealing with a bunch of other things. You have never asked how much damage was done to my wife's chest and arms, you have never asked how serious the burns to my daughters face was but you have taken me to task about the truth of my story. Thank God Volvo believed and have corroborated my story.
Bye Tim........
