I actually guessed that could be the case, apparently the 850-70 electronics are roughly grouped into 1993-1995, 1996-1998(70) and 1999-00 . Wouldn't you need software activation for an earlier car, too? Also, won't you need to tear into the dashboard, a task not to be taken lightly?

They seem knowledgible and have a vast array of wrecked Volvos. Also, there's copartfinder,com. I'd guess that most every turbo should have a computer.

How about adding a Garmin GPS gizmo? It doesn't give you MPG, but does tell you your altitude, it might be cheaper than adding the computer. Plus you can take it with you to your next car.

Nice to see you're still hanging in here with Volvodom!
