Wow! This is SO freaky! I JUST had a very similar thing happen today. What happened to me was I had made a left turn and noticed the turn signal did not cancel. After sitting for a while with the engine off, the turn signals do not work, the high beams do not work, NOTHING on the steering wheel i.e. cruise control, stereo controls, etc, works at all.
I will do the same reset procedure described and see if it fixes.
