On S80s, one needs to disconnect the LOWER hose as the fluid goes from the trans through that hose. If one trys it with the upper hose, fluid jets out from the trans cooler all over the engine compartment.
The S80 is a GM trans SO it has a trans filter. If the car has higher mileage and one wants to do a better job, the trans pan should be removed and filter replaced besides flushing. Flushing is still required to get the fluid out from the torque conv, etc that doesn't drain out by removing the pan.
If removing the pan, get a new pan gasket as well.
