Don't pry it open and break it so it is not repairable. Same thing happened to me with my 850. Actually, you probably won't be able to pry it open at all...the strength of this door latch is amazing. The only way I found was to take a hack saw and carefully cut the two posts through the crack in the glovebox door without damaging the leather or plastic covering of the glovebox opening. Then the door will open. Next, go to Volvo and buy the rectangular bracket (that forms the 2 posts). It isn't expensive but the process is a hassle.
