Did you take the lower panel off from underneath and see if you can get to the hinges? I don't really think that would help anyway. Is the lock broke? Or is it the rod that runs from the handle over to the latch? It suks because the way the latch is designed the harder you try to pry it open the harder it holds on. You just may have to cut the anchor point in half with a hacksaw as suggested. Put some heavy duct tape over the vinyl to avoid scarring it before you do that though. Good luck.
