I'll second the suggestion about replacing the distributor cap and rotor. I bought my 'new' 855 5 speed in late September, and on the 3 hour drive back home with it, it would hesitate or bog down upon acceleration from ~1000-1500 rpm. I replaced the cap and rotor two weeks later, and it's been smooth and strong ever since. The cap and rotor were really scarred up, by the way.
