Get the T-5R. Even though the 97' is newer and may come in a more conservative color, the 95' is truly the item of choice in this scenario. Volvo began to sell the "R",(850R and S70R/V70R), from 1996 through the end of the S70 production run. The 95' T-5R is a one year limited run,( 1000 produced, 900 sedan 100 wagon units), and despite the fact that I live in "car-crazy" southern California, I think I'm the only person in the Los Angeles metro area with a "T-5R yellow" 95' T-5R and only one of two 95' T-5Rs, the other one is black. If exclusivity and collector bragging rights were'nt enough reasons to purchase this awesome machine, the T-5R can out accelerate the 96-97 850Rs by at least .5 second to 60 MPH,(0-60 in 6 seconds flat), and at least 1.4 seconds to the 1/4' mile,( 14.138 sec.@ 98.96 MPH California speedway 01/10/04), so to cut my little speech short if you're going to buy the 97' 850R, do yourself a favor and buy a 97' 850 T5 and save yourself about $5000 and a deminished re-sale value.
