Hello!. Going to buy V70 2000. Does it make sense? Pls, help. V70-XC70

If you read this board for a while, you will see what to watch out for.

One caveat - I did a simple analysis by charting the values for a FWD GLE sedan over 7 years. The value dropped fairly consistently, with the exception of year 5. There was a large (over $3000) drop in value at that time above and beyoud what math would predict.

The reason? The warranty runs out.

If the warranty is about to run out, you'd better get all the issues with the car identified and repaired before it does.

I suggest that you have a dealer run the car through their certified car checklist. My dealer charges an hour's labor (add an hour for a compression check) and gives me a two page report.

Having read this forum for two years, I've come to the conclusion than an extended warranty or an insurance policy makes sense.

On one of our 850s we lost about $400 on the policy - we only had an AC compressor and a thermostat replaced during the two years of thet car's policy.

On the other two, we have saved a bundle. Both had new condensors (or evaporators, I forget which one is under the dash) installed under their policies, and I still have two years to go on each. On our 855R we even got a new rear sway bar!

I have not had bad luck with our 8s, but all used cars stand to have existing issues.
