I have to agree with 'the kick inside'; test out the handling on the V70 before you close the deal. Though, I'm not the authority on this at all.
I bought a 2000 V70 (manual) used at 50k miles. I'm at 82k miles now and have had few problems. At one point, the car idled low as I was coming to a stop. The dealership claimed the throttle unit was dirty. They cleaned it, but after 4 months and 7000 miles, the problem seems to be coming back. (and I'll be asking about that in another thread).
But yeah, the handling. This is my first Volvo, but as compared to the 1994 Ford Escort I used to drive, the 2000 V70 handles like a truck. Then again, my old Ford was quite light and I whipped around more than I should. Also, I have BAD tires and rims on my V70, which I think is contributing to the problem.
Oh, and I'm sure you know, but if you're getting a V70, stick with 2000. '98 and '99 are apparently electrical nightmares.
