Hi,

The PNP switch is an electronic sensor that is attached to the transmission. It tells the engine what gear it is in, etc. You here a lot about problems with these, but they are not costly to replace, that is the least of your concerns. If you had to replace the PNP switch it would cost under $300 with labor at an independent mechanic.
