How accurate is 'distance to empty'? 850

Hahahhaa, yes, very true :)

Actually it's not something I was intending on doing. I know its bad for the car with potential junk in the bottom of the tank & makes some vehicle components work harder etc.

I was just curious as to how accurate this thing may be, and further to that, interested in whether anyone had any stories to tell (good or bad) about running out, or almost running out.

I am aware the DTE readout varies dependant upon how you are driving the car at the time, however, this is my story. . . . .

DTE had been slowly prgressing down, down, down. 30, 20, 10km to go. Anyway, with 10km to go i had the misfortune of having to run it 8km. Then when i filled up, with an average usage readout of 10litres per 100km it took 69.8 litres in a supposedly 70 litre tank.

I'm not niave enough to believe all these components have worked together to create perfect accuracy (for one thing you can drip fill the pipes & tank). However, it did make me smile at the time :) Guess i'm just easily amused :p

Volvo in perfect harmony ;)
