How accurate is 'distance to empty'? 850

Yup, very good point.

A mate and I once thought we were going to run out before reaching the next "town" (was in his Alfa & he was positive about it) so ended up spending the night in the middle of nowhere on a dirt track up in the mountains. It was freezing cold & raining & his sunroof started leaking on me :|

Anyway, the idea was that with the fuel we had left we would get further in daylight as we could make better use of momentum gained on downhill sections. But with being reluctant to brake at all we almost reduced the kangaroo population quite a few times :p

Fortunately we did make that next town to the petrol station/post office/general store etc (worst case scenario we had bikes on the roof anyway).
