History or problems with '98 V70-XC70 1998

The post 98's also have their share of problems. See the ETS thread
right above yours for an example. If you want a drive it and mostly
forget it car I'm sad to say a newer Volvo is probably not the right
car for you.

You know Ford will soon be selling a new SUV based on the Volvo
XC 90 chassis: the Freestyle (and a new sedan based on the S80, the 500).
It has volvo underbody and Ford powertrain (V6 engine). People may
shoot me for this but that may turn out to be more reliable. It is
a first year car so probably, again, not for you. But it will be
interesting to see how the Volvo based cars that Ford is selling
will perform (quality wise). It does use the XC90's newer
Haldex AWD system (which is improved over what is in the 98s so the
tire size issues aren't such a problem) and has a base price of
about $25K. For details see:
