I have a 94 855T with 240K on it. Never had the engine apart, or tranny worked on. Just keep changing the oil and doing the required service. I have to go in the Friday for some EGR work, but that is about it. Even though the car is up there in years and the mileage is high, the repair costs are a lot cheaper than making those monthly payments for a new one.
I did notice that it doesn't seem to matter what dealer I go to, any repairs or tuneups end up as some multiple of $400.
I hope to get another few years out of the car. Someone told me a long time ago that the average age of a retired Volvo is 17 years.
