Depends 850 1996

volvos are great solid cars, but I would stay away from a FWD volvo. They are expensive to maintain, and when something breaks, we're talking $500+ repairs, ie ABS module, AC evaporator, etc, and expensive parts.

If you are mechanically inclined and plan to do some minors repairs yourself, like brakes, tranny flush, etc., then I would go for it, otherwise look for a RWD volvo, like a 740 or 940. They are more reliable, and cheap to maintain.
