A service message was displayed intermittently on the message display. (I'm not sure of the exact text of the message)

I didn't notice any performance issues with the car but the dealer strongly advised me not to take the car home while the part was on order. Apparently this was common on the 2001 models.

Have you considered an extended warranty? The feeling here at brickboard is to get the Volvo warranty not a third party plan and negotiate the price of it.
