FWIW, I have tried them both. My 97 850 did not come with Euro Rails, so to try the least expensive method, I ordered and installed the Thule cross-bar/load bars that fit into the top of the door frame. The mounting was easy and straightforward, but the look just wasn't what I wanted. At the time Euro Rails were about 100 bucks less than they are now, so I purchased a pair from borton volvo in minnesota.
The installation was pretty straight forward. You have to removed the black roof "trim" and actually cut it...measure twice and cut once, or you'd be in trouble and need a new trim piece. Taking my time the installation took about 3 hours and when the rails were on the car, it looked better than just the cross bars...more of a factory look i guess. With the thule load bars, 2 bike trays and the Thule faring the car looked sweet.
I didn't try the Yakima system since Thule is OEM.
Hope that helps...the setup is definately worth the money as it looks 100% factory when you've got it all together.
