My 98 V70 is doing just fine at 96k miles, with nothing out of the ordinary to have to deal with . No stumbling, tranny smooth, and average 29 miles per gallon with a mix of 90% highway and 10% city driving.
That said, this is what I've replaced.
Tie rods (both inner, and left outer + boots) @ 80-92k
control arms (both) @ 80K
left front turn signal assembly
Various lights
cup holder (badly designed)
mechanical portion of ignition switch (PITA) @ 75k
tilt lever (snapped it off with my knee during the ignition switch repair. Doh!)
cap/rotor (routine maint.)
Sparks (routine)
left front wheel bearing @90 k
t and serp belt (65k routine maint)-split the difference between the t belt interval (70 k) and the serp interval (60 k) and do them all at once.
Due for:
Need to seal leaky heater core connection or replace heater core
plug wire set at 100k
In short, I LOVE the car and it is fun to work on (most of the time), provides me with a nice leisurly commute (110 miles round trip daily), and most importantly, I feel safe!
