weak points with a 1993 850? 850

In a word...NO! Not to say that this car is necessarily bad, many things that are evil have most likely been done...but...

It is a one year only car, and it is the first year of that model...

4 lug pattern on the wheels, meaning rims are different, hub bearings are different.

The climate controllers fail; one year only; requires modification to newer style, or expensive purchase most likely from dealer.

The power stages for the climate controllers fail.

Transmissions were being replaced on the PDI's (Pre-Delivery Inspections). My husband had just quit the dealer at the time, and opened the shop. Volvo didn't want their clients to see brand new cars getting transmissions, so...we ended up replacing them sublet. They remain the weakest of the 850 transmissions, again, one year only, with one year only tranny cooler lines. When we replace them, we convert them to a newer tranny.

Even the trim and the headlights are different, so say you have a fender bender on the front...no aftermarket headlight lens for you...

And on top of this, you get to add the usual list of woes:

The evaporator,
the pnp switch,
the upper strut spring caps
etc., etc.

95+ is the best way to go on these...

Chris
