Hi all-
I read the recent post about stumbling & stalling & I'm having similar problems.
BUT here's my dilemma: Car's been running perfectly. Washed it yesterday, and decided to rinse off the engine compartment. Checked the caps- everything's on tight, give it all a good spray; nothing huge, just rinsing dirt and grime off everything., & even wipe dry what I could get to.
Afterwards last night, she's kind of stuttering going from a dead stop, but nothing too alarming. Figured if I did get water in something, it'll dry or get worked out.
Just went for several miles out on the highway in a lot of stop and go traffic. Total trip: 30 minutes. More pronounced stuttering, but when I'm up to speed, no problem. Then really doesn't want to go from a stop, but gets there after a struggle, and then cruising fine. Then it starts taking getting up to about 40 mph, a little over 2k rpm to plane out. I'm in stop and go traffic, so I'm putting it in N and keeping it slightly revved at stops so it doesn't just poop out. Go a little further, and the check engine light starts flashing. Then at a stop it'll stay on, or when I'm up to speed where it's not struggling, it'll stay on. While accelerating: flashing. Seems to be getting worse, and I thought I may have heard a slight "warbling."
Did I get water in something? Have I trashed the fuel pump? Have I destroyed my car? Checked the flame trap a few months ago & it's clean. Any ideas or suggestions?
I don't have a OBD code reader and there isn't an auto place around except for the Volvo dealership, which is now closed for the weekend, of course. God, what have I done!?
Thanks for any input!
Michael
