Advice on Brakes 700

Need to change rotors/pads all around on 89 740. Is this a difficult job? Any special tools besides piston compressors? Any help is welcome.

Also what brand/ type rotors and pads should I use.

Thanks

Pretty straightforward job but be sure to lubricate the front caliper slide pins.

Personally I use ATE Power Disc vented rotors on the front, and regular ATE rotors on the rear. Brake pads I use Mintex all around. Good stopping power, and doesn't make noise...much. It's VERY rare, and the squeak is very low in volume.

The Power Discs wear through pads a little quicker due to the slotting if I'm not mistaken but it helps with outgassing of the pads when you're hard on the brakes. If you're just an average driver, just get regular discs.

A lot of people here will recommend PBR Deluxe pads too. Never tried em personally.

I believe the rear discs are now available with the ATE Power slots. An additional nice feature is when the grooves wear away you can easily tell it's time to replace them.

The green volvo factory brake manual from volvotechinfo.com is reasonably priced and a nice aid in doing the job. Now may also be a good time to change the break fluid.
