Short List 200 1993

Congratulations!

Fuel smell is probably in your imagination. Could just be something peculiar in whatever brand of oil is in there. "High Mileage" oils have some funky smells! Just to be sure, check the fuel pressure regulator for leaks at the vacuum hose, and the coolant temp sensor.

Temp gauge is probably a common temperature compensation board problem. Bypass this board (see IPD's website for more info on the bypass). If that doesn't do it, the engine could just be running cold. New T-stat would then be needed.

The heater problem sounds like the typical heater control valve failure. Replacement is not a fun looking job (just awkward!). There's a set screw in the unit, tweaking it might fix the problem for a while.

If you haven't already, get a Bentley 240 Repair/Service manual. $35, and money well spent!
