I have a 1996 960 and have had no problems with it. I am the 2nd owner. I bought it at 140k miles and am currently at 187k. I changed the timing belt and the serp belt. It's a nice, strong engine. Mine uses about a quart of oil between changes, nothing to worry about. I like the car.
