I have a 95 960 which has been very stable. Mine is the B6304S, which is solid.
If you chose a 960, you MUST change the timing belt, tensioner, idle pulley, spring damper, water pump every 90,000 kms. Failing to do these will fry the engine. If I were you, i would replace all these when you purchase the car to be absolutely positive of the condition of these items.
When I bought mine, a friend helped my flush all fluids, including differential, coolant, transmission (from the rad line), oil, and the above timing gear. I put in new plugs, flame trap, air filter, and a few of the vacuum hose elbows. After all the work, I had it professionally detailed, including an engine shampoo, whihc made it easy to spot leaks as i got to know the car.
Today it is in like new condition, and has been professionally appraised at eighteen (18) time the black book value of the car.
Pick and pull yards are starting to have these in stock, so parts are actually becoming easier to find of late.
Good choice if you are a DIY guy who has access to a bone yard nearby. Hope it works out.
