I'm not the resident expert around here, and I might be jumping the pecking order, but here's my 2 cents. Although it is possible to stretch aircraft quality multi-strand steel cable - which, I believe - original Volvo clutch cables are - I doubt you've done that. My experience is that they break before the stretch that far. It sounds to me like it might be a problem where the clutch cable anchors to the firewall - or your clutch fork is starting to bend. Just my 2 cents.
