Can she use a 3-position toggle switch as a temporary headlight switch? 200 1984

We love old Volvos, and typically when something has gone wrong with ours we go get it fixed at the Volvo dealer because it's a big job (heater core, timing belt). Anything electrical in the past has been a simple fuse issue. So, we've not had to be mechanically inclined to be happy old Volvo drivers. RWD isn't an issue unless it snows - which thankfully, it doesn't here very often.

Ok, so my husband was able to pull apart the console and go under the area near the steering wheel where he found a disconnected connector that he plugged back into the headlight switch. Voila. HOWEVER....The switch itself is still very loose, but the lights do turn on now (after a bit of flickering...still!)So I'm wondering if this is a bad connector or a bad switch?? The connector didn't look distorted or melted or damaged whatsoever.

Suggestions, Volvo experts?
