I now have a working clock and climate control selector. Clock had two bad 100uF caps, which I replaced with salvaged caps from an old CRT monitor bard. Climate control selector had a broken vacuum hose near the firewall. I cut the hose around the broken part and used a small length of hose I found in my pile of hose remnants that fit tightly OVER the smaller selector hose. Works great now and since I had the dash apart I was able to observe the vacuum servos doing their thing.
Wow! a few hours with this car and I have fixed most of the annoying little things than never got attention. Thanks to you guys for the info and of course the immense database of searchable archives!
I am now waiting for the side view mirrors and hood hinges from ebay. Will now see if I can fix the front passenger outside door handle.
