Just whip out your owners manual from the glovebox (or photocopy the page and keep that in the glovebox).

On my manual for my '93 (undoubtedly your '92 is probably almost identical), it reads (on pg 15) in the section on "Rear Fog Light" that "The rear fog light is considerably brighter than the normal tail lights.... The fog light is located in the section of the tail light....(Driver side only)."

That should be sufficient to explain it all to her.
